    Belfast should learn from the Ormeau Road says Granary owner

    David Edwards, owner of Granary Coffee and Sandwich Bar, firmly believes the level of harmony on the Ormeau Road should be used as a blueprint for the rest of Belfast.

    “The Ormeau Road is fantastic. I find it very diverse. You have a mixture of people from all backgrounds, nationalities and religions and there is never any bother. I don’t think you get that in the rest of Belfast,” he said.

    Due to tide times we have had to re-schedule the race to 13:15 this Saturday.

    If you haven’t already sponsored a Duck you can do so today at Michels Fresh Fruit and Vegetables (435 Ormeau Road) or you can pick one up at the entrance to the Ormeau Park (the entrance closest to the Ormeau Bridge) at 13:00 sharp this Saturday before the race.

    You can sponsor a duck today by picking one up at Michels Fresh Fruit and Vegetables (435 Ormeau Road) for £1 (individuals) or £10 for Businesses.

    If not you can pick one up at the entrance to the Ormeau Park (the entrance closest to the Ormeau Bridge) at 1:45pm this Saturday before the race.

    Countdown to OBA Duck Derby

    Join the Ormeau Business Association on Saturday 13th April when we will be hosting our first Duck Derby!

    Local individuals and companies have the opportunity to sponsor a duck, which we will release at Governors Bridge at 2:00pm. They will make their way towards the Ormeau Bridge, with the winner hopefully crossing the line at 2:30pm.

    McCreery's Butchers an Ormeau Road Institution

    McCreery’s butchers have been providing quality meats to the Ormeau Road public since 1960 when Thomas McCreery first opened his shop.
    Back then, there were no giant supermarkets and small, independent businesses were the lifeblood of the neighbourhood.
    His son, Nigel, who now runs the award-winning business, has seen events turn full circle, with families moving back into the Ormeau area and opting for more traditional forms of shopping.
